DOLNÍ MĚCHOLUPY

CREATING A NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE

IBA has won a limited competition to design a mixed use development in the centre of Dolní Měcholupy, Prague 15. The project includes the creation of a new urban square along Kutnohorská street and will act as a gateway for the future developments which are currently proposed as Dolní Měcholupy expands along its eastern edge.

It is expected that the square will become a new central focus for the locality with public service facilities such as a doctor’s surgery, post office, shops and a small supermarket located around the edge of the square at ground level. By opening up the streetscape at this point the square gives prominence to the school building and park on the opposite side of Kutnohorská.

The architecture of the buildings is inspired by the traditional ‘barn’ type buildings which are typically arranged perpendicular to streets in Czech villages. To the north of the square 2 further residential buildings are planned as part of the overall development which has a total planned area of approximately 10 500m2 gross external.

The project has been given the name Lario and the Developer is CPC.
